How should I dress for my college freshman orientation?

My parents want me to go nice and pressed (even starch in my clothes and wearing pants). I insist I'll be ok wearing casual clothes (shorts and high school shirt) because it looks like I'll be moving often throughout the two days, so I want to be comfortable in the heat. My dad said to treat it like a job interview, but I don't think so much stress should be put into this, since I'm just meeting staff, touring the school, and registering for classes and dorms. All of my clothes (casual or not) are nice, so I feel like I can make a good enough impression with normal clothes (quickly ironed so the steam can get most wrinkles out, but not pressed and starched) and by being my normal like-able self. I appreciate all comments related to my question.
